Finding accommodation 

For accommodation, students arrange their own apartments or room for rent, as preferences and budget vary from person to person. Our school does not have dedicated dormitories. However, we are happy to suggest reliable accommodation websites and recommend safe and convenient areas to stay in Milan.

Milan Fashion Campus is located between the Lima and Porta Venezia metro stations on the M1 red line. For a short walking distance, you may consider areas such as Porta Venezia, Lima / Corso Buenos Aires, Loreto, Palestro, or Repubblica. We generally advise avoiding accommodation very close to the Centrale station area, as it is not the most comfortable area to walk around at night. If accommodation in these areas is not available, reaching the school is still very easy from any location along the M1 red line.

SHORT TERM ACCOMmODATION

A few days up to 2-3 months

If you are staying for a short period, it is usually easier to book through platforms like Booking.com, Airbnb, or VRBO. Some hosts may also offer better monthly rates, so it’s worth asking if you plan to stay for several weeks.

These options work similarly to hotels, meaning:

  • Flexible check-in and check-out dates, on any day

  • No complex contracts

  • No additional bureaucracy (such as registration, cancellation, or agency fees)

Long TERM ACCOMmODATION

Monthly rent

For longer stays, you can also use the other websites that we haven’t mentioned yet, listed in the link below. Rules, contracts, and conditions vary depending on the agency or landlord, so always check details carefully.

For long term housing with contracts, landlord may ask for your passport copy, fiscal code, and a proof of study letter from us.

When searching, pay attention to:

  • Arrival and departure dates (they may not match your preferred schedule)

  • Minimum stay duration

  • Payment frequency (monthly, fortnightly, etc.)

  • Type of contract (short-term, monthly, long-term, e.g. 4+4)

  • Extra fees (registration, security deposit, agency commissions.

  • Refund policy and late check-in charges

  • Contract termination policy (typically 1-3 months notice required

Some rentals include building fees (spese condominiali), gas, Wifi, and electricity, while others do not.

Security deposits are usually 1–3 months of rent and should be refunded at the end if there are no damages.

For contracts longer than 30 days, the agreement must be registered with the Agenzia delle Entrate. Usually, the landlord handles this and must provide a copy of the registered contract or receipt within 30 days after signing.

Student Accommodation

ACCOMMODATION SPECIFICALLY FOR STUDENTS

Student housing offers antoerh viable rooming option in Milan. But because availability generally aligns with university semester dates, please confirm your dates with the housing office prior to booking if you require a short-term stay.

Advantages of student accommodation:

  • All-inclusive billing: Monthely rent almost always covers water, electricity, heating, gas and wifi. You don't have to manage the bills.

  • Simplified leases & guarantees.

  • Enhanced security & maintenance.

Housing tips

general tips

Take a look carefully before you make any desicions or sign contracts

Always check reviews across multiple platforms (Booking.com, Google, Hostelworld, etc.). If you are considering hostels or dorm-style accommodation, make sure to confirm:

  • Storage space (important for stays longer than 2–3 weeks)

  • Availability of a shared kitchen or common areas

  • Quiet hours and whether the space is suitable for studying or working.

​Finding accomodation in Milan can be very hard, so we suggest to do it as early as possible ( min. 2-3 weeks in advance).

Beware of scams!

Milan is a safe city, but the housing market can be competitive, and scams do happen; especially targeting international students.

 

Be cautious if you notice any of the following:

  • Platforms with unusual fees or unclear, complex terms.

  • The owner refuses to do a video call or properly show the property.

  • Photos look copied from other listings or agencies.

  • Requests to send money before seeing the place or without a confirmed booking.

  • Prices that are far below Milan’s average.

  • Hidden extra costs not clearly explained.

  • No written contract provided.

  • Requests for cash-only payments.

  • Unclear number of people sharing the apartment.

  • Ground floor apartments without proper security.

  • Pressure to decide and pay immediately.

  • Being asked to sign a contract without reading or understanding it.

 

It is highly recommended to translate your housing contract using tools like Google Translate and read it carefully if you are not provided with an English version. Even if an English version is available, make sure it matches the Italian original. If possible, have it reviewed by a lawyer before signing.
